- Understand the legal and practical responsibilities of an Appointed Person in lifting operations
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice
- Assess, plan, and organise lifting operations, including risk assessment and method statement preparation
- Select appropriate lifting equipment and accessories for the task
- Communicate effectively with all parties involved in lifting operations, including crane operators, slinger/signallers, and site management
- Identify hazards and implement control measures to ensure safe working practices
- Understand the principles of crane stability, load assessment, and lifting configurations
- Supervise and coordinate lifting teams to ensure compliance and safety throughout operations
- Carry out post-operation checks and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping
Entry Requirements
- For candidates seeking the NPORS CSCS Card, or those requiring the ‘HS&E TESTED’ logo on their card, a valid CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test pass (within the last 2 years) is required.
- Learners must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
