Course Objectives
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
- Understand the industry, the associated dangers, and your responsibilities as an operator.
- Interpret and utilize the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific excavator you will be operating.
- Identify and explain the functions of key components and controls of the machine.
- Perform thorough pre-operational checks in line with manufacturer and legislative requirements.
- Select, use, and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable for NPORS 180° excavator operation.
- Prepare the excavator for use and carry out all necessary safety checks at the worksite.
- Operate the excavator safely and efficiently, adhering to environmental considerations.
- Store and transport excavator attachments properly and securely.
- Explain and perform safe loading and unloading procedures for transportation.
- Execute end-of-shift and shutdown procedures correctly.
Entry Requirements
- For learners requiring the ‘HS&E TESTED Logo’ on their card:
- Must have passed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety, and Environment Test within the last 2 years.
- Must possess a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an NPORS Operator Card. This certification demonstrates that you have acquired the skills and knowledge required to operate 180° excavators safely and efficiently.
