Participants will develop competency in the following areas:

- Understanding legal responsibilities and best practices when working with abrasive wheels
- Identifying different types of abrasive wheels, their uses, and specific hazards associated with cutting and grinding applications
- Selecting the correct wheel and equipment for the task, ensuring compatibility and safety
- Inspecting, testing, and correctly mounting abrasive wheels in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and current legislation
- Carrying out pre-use checks, routine maintenance, and safe operating procedures
- Demonstrating practical skills in the safe use of abrasive wheels for cutting and grinding tasks
- Using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring correct fit and maintenance
- Managing risks and responding effectively to incidents or emergencies
- Understanding correct storage and handling requirements for abrasive wheels
Entry Requirements
- For candidates applying for the NPORS CSCS Card, or those who require the ‘HS&E TESTED’ logo on their card, a valid CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test pass (within the last 2 years) is required.
- Learners must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
