Course Objectives
Participants will develop competency in the following areas:

- Understanding legal responsibilities and safety requirements for using hand held cut off saws with abrasive wheels
- Identifying different types of abrasive wheels and their applications in cutting operations
- Recognising the hazards and risks associated with hand held abrasive wheel use, and implementing appropriate control measures
- Selecting, inspecting, and mounting abrasive wheels in line with manufacturer’s instructions and legislative requirements
- Conducting pre-use checks and routine maintenance to ensure equipment safety
- Demonstrating safe and effective operation of hand held cut off saws for various cutting tasks
- Using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring correct fit and maintenance
- Managing safe storage, handling, and transportation of abrasive wheels and equipment
- Responding appropriately to incidents or emergencies involving abrasive wheels
Entry Requirements
- For candidates applying for the NPORS CSCS Card, or those who require the ‘HS&E TESTED’ logo on their card, a valid CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test pass (within the last 2 years) is required.
- Learners must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
