Course Objectives
Participants will develop competency in the following areas:

- Understanding the legal and safety responsibilities of operating a 4×4 off road vehicle
- Identifying the main components and controls of 4×4 vehicles and understanding their functions
- Conducting pre-use inspections and basic maintenance in line with manufacturer and legislative requirements
- Preparing the vehicle for off road use, including loading and securing equipment safely
- Operating the vehicle effectively across different terrains, including steep slopes, uneven ground, and adverse conditions
- Recognising and managing potential hazards associated with off road driving
- Selecting and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Demonstrating safe parking, shutdown, and post-use procedures
- Understanding environmental considerations and responsible vehicle use
Entry Requirements
- For candidates applying for the NPORS CSCS Card, or those who require the ‘HS&E TESTED’ logo on their card, a valid CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test pass (within the last 2 years) is required.
- Learners must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
